PASS Time is a relatively new official gamemode released by Valve in 2016 with efforts to make it into a competitive mode starting in 2017.

History[edit]

Some members of the competitive community adapted it to competitive with smaller maps and a 4v4 gamemode. The competitive version and its rules were mainly created by JaguarFiend, along with community input. The first tournament for this mode took place in November 2018.[1] It plays similarly to BBall, albeit with more players, a more complex environment, and hence greater opportunity for strategy and teamplay.

Currently, the most popular map for this mode is pass_arena2, which was the first map created for the gamemode by JaguarFiend in 2018. There are other maps which have been created over the years by other map creators, such as Smalltown and Collusseum (made by waves), Stadium (made by exer), and more. Since 4v4 Passtime's inception in 2018, it has remained almost entirely in North America, with some brief stints in Europe and even Asia, however players from across the world have played in 4v4 Passtime for months, including from Egypt and Colombia.[2]

Primary Classes[edit]

Standard team composition usually has 3 soldiers and a demoman or medic.
