Map Pages Brainstorming

Intro

  • Default sentence
  • Additional sentences adding normal information if needed
  • Narrative statements, potentially avoiding need for history/other sections

...

history

developmental history, including update history if official? Would have to maintain this so prolly no?? but also it is a way to add words so prolly yes

version history

changelog links, notes column?

version history either goes at top or bottom

flythrough

Callouts

can also be done with video resources on youtube

map guide/strategy/long list of words

seems to be very prevalent on many map wikis so maybe? [1] [2] no strategy section. there is no such thing as a definitive strategy for like 80% of situations. it is such a fluid topic and can't be written succinctly to the point of being useful.

anything definitive about strategy or map characteristics/unique elements should be added. "Gullywash has only 2 entracnces to mid instead of the traditional 3". "Process mid is very dependent on height on crates". Strategy section is the only thing missing from a complete resource for a map page

Rollouts

Map overview

Large overview image with option to show:

  • Control points
  • Health + ammo packs
  • ...

probably not feasible to do the hover thing. most important thing is to have an overview image somewhere. either in gallery, in own section or in infobox. prolly gallery. is feasible to make an edited overview image with important things marked. but idk

Map statistics/information/other word

Guide info:

  • how to calculate capture times using harmonic number
  • how to find respawn wave time using that mp command idk i forgot
Capture times
Multiplier Mid Second Last
x1 19.00 16.00 3.80
x2 12.67 10.67 2.53
x3 10.36 8.73 2.07
x4 9.12 7.68 1.82
x5 8.32 7.01 1.66
x6 7.76 6.53 1.55
x7 7.33 6.17 1.47
x8 6.99 5.89 1.40
x9 6.72 5.66 1.34
x10 6.49 5.46 1.30
x11 6.29 5.30 1.26
Respawn wave times
Control points owned by opposing team
1 2 Neutral 3 4
8.9 8.9 8.9 8.9 8.9

table + graph

spawn times too?

Health, ammo pack stats

Resources

To do:

  • are colspans bad for new editors and readability? perhaps get rid of them except for header column

Guide:

  • Video needs more than 1000 views (or maybe 500?)
  • Video needs to represent competitive TF2 well
  • shorten video title for the table (within reason)
  • youtube:
    • _map_ review
    • _map_ rollout
    • rollout.tf _map_
    • _map_ demo review
    • _map_ pov
      • needs comms cause there's always a fuckton
    • _map_ competitive tf2
    • cp__map_ XXXX
  • put prem/invite in tournament area to distinguish between low level demo reviews and high level demo reviews
    • once season structure project is done

Trivia

Navbox

  • Popular 6v6(?) maps
  • All 6v6 maps

having two navboxes means someone will have to update what navboxes show up as maps come in and out of popularity. either do:

  • only ALL 6v6 maps
  • subsection ALL6v6 maps into 'in rotation' and 'out of rotation' and then further subsection into 5cp, koth, ad
    • popular maps subsection lists maps with thumbnails??? probably not
