Pick/ban Prolander is a fairly new competitive game mode. It was promoted mainly by members of the Highlander community and more notoriously the RGL league sigafoo. It aims at being a middle ground between 6v6 play and highlander, giving more opportunities for situational classes to appear ingame due to being limited to one player per class. It was originally going to be a 6v6 mode but after negative comments in a teamfortress.tv sigafoo decided to make it 7v7. The main Prolander league is Recharge Gaming League ran by sigafoo. Most of the map pool is similar to that of highlander, with payload and koth maps. The teams pick and ban weapons before starting the match.

History

The idea was thrown around for a while between highlander players, and sigafoo started doing some experimental cups to try out the format.[1] Eventually he decided on a 7v7 format instead of 6v6, and a proper league was announced in May 2013.[2]

Primary Classes

Standard team composition tends to involve having at least scout, soldier, medic and demoman, while the rest of the team may pick classes depending on the situation, the most common being heavy and sniper.
