Full name 1st TF2C Archimedes Cup powered by scrap.tf

The Archimedes Cup was created for players who have had no experience in a competitive league and as a way of introducing these new players to the competitive league scene. The cup was created by TF2Center with the help of ETF2L and sponsored by Scrap.tf. Servers for all games were provided by serveme.tf. The prize pool amounted to a very tempting $2,000, with over € 1,600 contributed by Scrap.tf.

The cup had run into problems when the event was announced due to only mentioning the cap on the skill levels allowed from the ETF2L leagues, although not specifying if Highlander skill levels counted, and not mentioning the UGC skill level cap. A few days afterwards, the ETF2L team cleared up all confusion by clearly stating that all but one player must not have played more than one season and not have played above ETF2L's 6v6 or Highlander's Division 6 or UGC 6v6 or Highlander's Iron tier. The one player who was excluded to these rules on the team would be referred to as the team's "Buddy" and may only play medic at all times. Other general ETF2L rules applied.

Teams had to be registered on ETF2L to enter the cup.

Prizes

  • 1st Place — €500
  • 2nd Place — €350
  • 3rd Place — €150

A raffle was also provided alongside the prizes for both participants and people who would view the stream. Teams that had participated in this cup had to complete every game of ETF2L's Season 20 for a chance to win €200 whereas viewers had the chance to win €400 by viewing the stream and participating.

Schedule

  • Signups: December 27th, 2014 – January 11th, 2015
  • Group Stage: January 11 - January 18th, 2015
  • Group stage: January 25 - January 28th, 2015
  • Quarter Finals: January 25 – January 29, 2015
  • Semi Finals: February 1, 2015
  • Grand Final: February 8, 2015

The schedule was initially meant to end by the time that ETF2L's Season 20 had started, but due to a technical issue on the first day of the cup, many teams were left without a server and so the time schedule was pushed back a whole week.
