The Bureau is a European Highlander team currently competing in ETF2L Premiership.

Team History

Origins

The Bureau was founded in 2014 for The Highlander Open. The original team name was "The Bureau of Military Science", however it was shortened to The Bureau.

The vast majority of Bureau players started playing during or after The Highlander Open.

Rise to Premiership

After The Highlander Open, The Bureau reformed to play ETF2L Season 7 in Division 5B, where Chronos switched from demoman to medic. The team underperformed throughout the season and finished 5th.

Chronos decided to reform the team and used The Bureau in UGC Season 15 to trial new players. As a result, the team lost only their first game of the season.

The team trialled players again in the Experimental Highlander One-Night-Cup #7, which lead to The Bureau picking up ixy as scout, dd5f as soldier, kuli as demo and Afirax as sniper. The new roster dropped only a single map during the ETF2L Highlander Season 9 - High and one map in the Grand Finals. Due to their first place finish, they were promoted to Premiership for the next season.

Premiership

As newcomers The Bureau went in to Season 10 to try to solidify their position as a Premiership level team. Chronos, at the start of the season, said that the team should be aiming at least for playoffs and ideally for 3rd place. The team dropped points between week 3 and 5 that they were unhappy about. A few players had other commitments and the roster was forced to be changed in mid season. Scrambled, despite being removed from the team during Season 9, repraised his role as heavy replacing Simba and Scriptzon picked up the sniper rifle replacing BeS. Regardless, The Bureau were still able to compete and took points off of their remaining fixtures. After some controversy regarding points lost for warnings, The Bureau finished in 4th place nonetheless taking the last playoff spot. Beating Highpander in the first round of playoffs but losing to Strong Opinions in the Semi Final afterwards, The Bureau became 3rd overall.

The team is currently set to take on ETF2L's Season 11 with ambition to improve.
