"A bunch of Rocket Blast pubbers decided to play highlander"
colony started out as a Finnish-Swedish pub team, who rose up in ranks of early day Highlander on ETF2L. The team housed strong 6v6 players zoob and furbo.
The core players played frequently together on Rocket Blast public servers. Officially the team was created by hurr in 2010, when colony took on the 6v6 team broder in a showmatch to raise awareness for the new highlander format that was going to start in ETF2L.
The team has seen little change during its run through the HCC and subsequent highlander seasons.
Gatekeepers of prem[edit]
Although colony was placed consistently in the highest divisions, their dominating performances diminished after the HCC. Other teams were catching up and the games required more effort from the pubstackers.
After season 2, MrLate was called upon for conscription for the Finnish army. For season 3 MindYe took over and after that the only French player to play for colony Phunk was put behind the scope. The team took a huge hit when one of the core players J0rmund, who was with the team for a long time had to quit due to being too "lifey". Luckily nappr showed up and was able to carry the torch from there on.
As a last roster change fraggen announced his departure from competitive Team Fortress, he would then be followed up kKaltUu, a Dutch heavy that just came off a promising season in UGC.
During their last seasons, they did show a few breakout performances. Namely at wireplay and experimental cups, but their hey days of HCC seemed to be over.
Rivalry[edit]
Since it's beginning, colony had a rivalry with SNSD. This began during the HCC, where they were facing against each other in the grand finals. colony took the first map, but SNSD turned out to have done their homework and won the other two maps. Even though they were able to take maps from SNSD, colony would never win an official match from them.
I’ll die a sad man never seeing SNSD beaten by Colony or that fixture ever occurring again, one of the oldest rivalries in TF2.
Remains of the team[edit]
Even though the team has been converted to a Fun Team, colony presence can still be seen throughout the highlander scene.
colony mumble colony's founding medic, Mente, hosts one the most active European Highlander mumble servers. Many teams are using it as their primary voice server.
colony spreadsheet in the early days of highlander, there wasn't a pickup or way to find decent scrims. The boys at colony created a spreadsheet that, after several years of service is still in use.
Kissakala, Zoob and furbo have since then joined Highpander and have won Highlander Premiership. SabaSaba, nappr, MIndYe and yonus continued to play highlander in Heppa.
After the announcement of the team being disbanded, Hildreth wrote an article about the history of this legendary team.

Trivia[edit]
- colony is often abbreviated as :E due to the phonetic resemblance between the two.
- They earned their nickname 'forever 2nd place' due to their large amount of second place finishes. An onset that haunted zoob until he finally won premiership with Highpander.
