Chris "octochris" Down was an English Medic, affiliated with the Dutch FakkelBrigade team. He was well known for both his contributions as one of the top medics in Europe with a unique and aggressive playstyle, and also his technical innovations in the game and wider community. He created some of the most popular FPS configs on the competitive scene, Chris' FPS configs, and also was the creator of the now defunct #tf.mercs, maybe the earliest service using bots and servers to provide jump-in competitive games, a format that eventually was made more popular through services like TF2Lobby.
He was also a member of the Swiss national 9v9 team, and towards the end of his career played under the Swiss flag. He left the TF2 scene in 2012 to pursue other interests. As of 2019, he is currently an engineer at Facebook.
From 2010-2012 he also was the senior anti-cheat admin for European TF2, and was part of the team which overturned the ban on Beavern. [1].
