NZFortress was a New Zealand-based Team Fortress community and league. The website hosted 6v6, Highlander and BBall competitions for the named region. NZfortress was often seen as an easterly counterpart to ozfortress, with both having their origins in the early 2000s - the days of Team Fortress Classic. NZfortress predated ozfortress by at least a month.
History[edit]
NZfortress spent most of its lifetime hosting Team Fortress Classic (1999-2007) competitions rather than Team Fortress 2 (2007-2013). Similarly to ozfortress, NZfortress was founded by a TFC player - Fink.
The official NZfortress website went down at a date between October of 2016 and March of 2017, however the site had been inactive since 2013. The death of NZfortress was most likely due to the growing popularity of its neighbouring organisation ozfortress and the fact that many New Zealanders could still play in Australian servers with tolerable ping. These players included future ozfortress Ultiduo champion krollic (then Rocky).
