Prize pool
The initial prize pool was announced by on 3 December 2016, consisting of $7,000 USD contributed by Esports Arena and Marketplace.tf.[1] This was further increased by crowdfunding, which raised $1,192 for the invite division.[2]

Map pool
The map pool for Rewind 2017 was announced on teamfortress.tv on 21 January 2017.[3] It was slightly different from the map pool used in ESEA Season 23, with Metalworks being excluded and updated versions for Snakewater and Sunshine being used. Whilst the most recent version of Snakewater at the time was cp_snakewater_final1
, the tournament used a previous version, cp_snakewater_u13
.
Ruleset
Each team was given two 120 second tactical pauses for every map.[4]

Broadcasting
The event was livestreamed by Esports Arena on their Twitch.tv channel.[1] The broadcasting team was organised by teamfortress.tv and announced on 21 January 2017.[3] showstopper, who competed with Street Hoops eSports, was used as an impromptu analyst during the grand final.[5]

Rosters
Rosters were announced unofficially on teamfortress.tv prior to the tournament. On 20 January 2017, two days before the tournament, duwatna (who was registered to play with Street Hoops eSports) was forced to pull out of the event after contracting appendicitis.[6] The team brought in former froyotech Demoman Muma to replace him. On the same day, Meat Market Roaming Soldier CheesyMacgyver decided not to attend the event and was replaced by bl4nk.[7]
