How this page should look[edit]

this is a wiki, so feel free to improve it if you wish. Maxim (talk) 12:24, 14 December 2013 (WET)

What is competitive TF2[edit]

  • 6v6 is 2 scouts, 2 soldiers, 1 demoman, 1 medic
    • <imagery/videos of each?>
    • why this combination of classes in 6v6?
    • roles of each class, briefly -> direct to class pages
  • 9v9 is one of every class
    • roles of each class -> direct to class pages

How a competitive game is played[edit]

<video here pls> (maybe this one eXtv: Intro to Competitive TF2)

  • logistics
    • map types
      • (the Push/KOTH/AD pages better explain what the common strategies for each mode are)
    • types of scoring
  • how to play the game
    • rollouts
    • midfights
I can already see the above area becoming too involved
for a getting started guide, we'd need to move this to the
[[6v6]] page? though it also applies to 9v9... HELP -maxim
  • how to think about the game
    • advantages/disadvantages
    • decision making
    • <insert framed quotes from the many forum posts that have been written on this topic>
maybe thinking about the game can be moved to under a
[[metagame]] page, so we can keep this section brief? -maxim

Game optimisation[edit]

Where to?[edit]

  • pugs
    • describe them as your entry point, and delegate to PUGs page?
  • newbie mixes
    • an NA thing i think...
  • leagues
    • list them
    • what is a whitelist/why?
  • finding a team
    • tips/don't be an idiot/expectations
  • media
    • where to find more content about comp tf2
      • casting/forums/fragvids/essays

some kind words here

Common questions[edit]

  • FAQ here

Preliminary thoughts[edit]

This page should eventually become a getting started guide for competitive tf2. Not sure if we need original content, as there are a few getting started guides already out there.

Best to continue to collate them here, before an Editor summarises it all.

Not sure whether the scope of this page should be

  • Intro. to the gamemodes
  • your future tf2 career, from team to team, pugging, mixes. pubs -> lobby -> pugs? -> team
  • technical requirements

theres a lot of content to be covered...
