Chapelaria is a competitive community located in Brazil. It was created with the purpose of helping more casual players to join the competitive side of Team Fortress 2. The community hosts 6v6 tournaments, casual events and ultiduo tournaments.

The organisation is currently lead by Bruno, ratawar and Lugui. Former head admins and founders were Bagual and Danni.

Format

As the main purpose of the community is to integrate new and experienced players, a system was created to determine a player's skill when it comes to competitive experience. The setting at the moment relies on 3 levels of knowledge and playing skills combined.

  • Tier 1 - Players with advanced knowledge and skill on at least one class;
  • Tier 2 - Players with either considering knowledge or great skill (even a bit of both);
  • Tier 3 - Newcomers with either no competitive game sense or low playing skill.

In the future the system will be improved to gather a larger range of classification so players can have their progress more visible as well for some matches to be more balanced.

For its second season, Chapelaria created two divisions, Gladiator and Legatus. Gladiator has a tier restriction, where the maximum of Tier 1 players a team can have is 1 and the maximum of Tier 2 players is 2. The composition of Legatus teams is free. Matches are played through 8 maps using the Swiss System. The number of rounds depends on how many teams register for the competition. The top teams go to the playoffs and fight in a double-elimination structure until the finals.

Currently the only game mode played is 5CP.

  • Single matches;
  • Match ends when a team wins 5 rounds;
  • Match ends when time limit reaches 30 minutes;
  • Ties are allowed.

The points are attributed according to the match result plus the amount of rounds won by each team (winner and loser):

  • 5 points for victory;
  • 3 points for draw;
  • 1 point for defeat;

The names where chosen based on historical details of Ancient Rome; the gladiators were those who fought at the Coliseum for entertainment, while Legatus was the patent for the Roman army's general, experienced warriors selected due to their combat experience and knowledge.

All players are welcome to join both divisions, as long as they are located in South America and have connection route to nearby servers so games can be played with minimum lag. For Gladiator, the players need to attend to the tier limit imposed to create some balancing and give the newcomers a change to play along experienced players.

Fees and Prizes

To join the Legatus division teams must pay 1 refined metal per player. Gladiator is free to join as a way to encourage new players to participate.

The participants and winners receive in-game medals. Casters, streamers and all collaborators receive medals too. The first season had keys as the prize alongside the medals.

Seasons

First Season

The first edition of Chapelaria's 6v6 tournament was organized aiming new players mostly, a few experienced competitors where allowed to play as long as they didn't cause any unbalancing. Friendly matches where held prior the competition to adjust team's skill levels.

Third Season

For the third season, Chapelaria kept its previous dual division system, but this time teams have been placed in one of them based on a general contemplation of the players' Tier in the team, rather than placing them based on individual Tiers. League fees have been removed and medals for this season have been introduced to the game.
